How to disable V.90 on your modem.


Step 1

We must first determine the type make and model of the modem that is in your computer.  To do this...
1a) Click on start
1b) Click on settings
1c) Click on control panel
1d) Double click on modems
1e) The next screen that is displayed will show you the type of modem you have in your computer. Write this down!

Step 2

The next thing we must do is find the init string for you make and model of modem.  Please go to this web site and search for the modem you wrote down in step 1e.  Write down the init string for the modem that disables V.90.

Step 3

The last step is to place the init string in your dialing set-up.  this is different for windows 95/98 and ME

If you are using windows 95 or 98
3a) Double click on "My Computer"
3b) Double click on "Dial-Up-Networking"
3c) Right click on your dial up connection
3d) Click on "properties"
3e) Click on the "configure" button
3f) Click on the "connection" tab
3g) Click on the "Advanced" button
3h) type in the init string you wrote down in step 2 into the extra settings box.
3i) click on the "apply" button
3j) Close all the windows and restart your computer
3k) Try your internet connection again

If you are using Windows ME
3a) Click on "start"
3b) Click on "Settings "
3c) Click on "Dial-Up-Networking"
3d) Right click on your dial up connection
3e) Click on "properties"
3f) Click on the "configure" button
3g) Click on the "connection" tab
3h) Click on the "Advanced" button
3i) type in the init string you wrote down in step 2 into the extra settings box.
3j) click on the "apply" button
3k) Close all the windows and restart your computer
3l) Try your internet connection again
